My Story

From a young age, I loved spending time in the kitchen with my mum, which sparked my initial love for cooking. However, it wasn’t until 2016, during a holiday break between my second and third year of studying accounting at university, that I discovered my true passion for baking. Despite being awarded Best Student in Cost Accounting that same year and being on track to become an accountant, life had other plans for me.

I firmly believe in pursuing a career that brings joy, even if it defies convention. With the unwavering support of my loving mother, I founded Sensational Bitez in the same year, which has since evolved into the brand it is today, Sensational Cakes and Desserts. Recognising the lack of authentic, delicious, and visually stunning cakes in the UK, I launched in the UK in January 2023, determined to fill that gap and bring a touch of sweetness to people’s lives. My journey was not without its challenges; I learned through trial and error, from one wasted cake batter to the another. Yet, these experiences only served to perfect my skills and refine my unique taste, which has become unmatched in the industry. My customers can attest to the exceptional quality and flavour of my creations.

Sensational Cakes and Desserts stands on a strong foundation with a clear vision and mission. As a young black female-owned business, we have faced numerous challenges, broken barriers, and defied the odds to build a thriving enterprise. The success of Sensational Cakes and Desserts serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for many aspiring ethnic minority entrepreneurs, empowering them to elevate their businesses, meet growing customer needs, and continue their own journeys of success and community impact.

Aside from being a baker and business owner, I enjoy cooking, spending time with my lovely family, and traveling. My adventures have taken me to many countries, where I’ve savoured a variety of culinary delights, from tagine and Moroccan tea in Marrakech, to macarons in France, baklava in Türkiye, tequila shots in Mexico, haggis in Scotland, and the many quintessential dishes of the USA. I also have an interest in fashion, which brings an extra touch of creativity to my life.
